Chiang Khan is a cute little town in Loei Province, located on the bank of the Mekong River with Laos on the other side of the river. The village center is around Chai Kong road, which is also known as Walking Street – a narrow 1 km road that’s lined with beautiful 100-year-old, teakwood shophouses. Most of them have been renovated and transformed into cute guest houses, souvenir shops and cafes. The old city district is filled with vintage charm providing a rare insight into Thailand’s past.
Chiangkhan Walking Street starts every day around 5:00 pm and offers a dazzling variety of delicious street food, drinks, souvenirs and cloths. There might also be a few street performers who will play live music or perform a dance.
𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙞𝙥 : The long promenade along the Mekong river invites especially during golden hours in the morning and evening for romantic walks or relaxed bike trips. Many hotels and guest houses offer bicycles to rent or for free.
Chiangkhan River Walk Hotel is located conveniently in the village center, offers spacious rooms, free bikes, a garden, a shared lounge and terrace.
